Gold Reignites: Here’s Our Favourites

By Murray Dawes, Friday, 07 August 2026

After an eight-month correction, a growing number of gold stocks are flashing potential buy signals at the same time. Murray looks at why that could point to a tradeable bounce in gold.

After a few months, clutching at straws, trying to find things to talk about in a dull market, there is some movement at the station.

Aussie stocks have blasted off, with many commodities making a comeback after a few months of copping a beating.

Copper is leading the pack, hitting a new all-time high above US6.80/lb this week.

Lithium and rare earths have been on a rollercoaster, but look ready to start heading higher again.

Gold is even looking ripe for a rally, and Charlie and I zero in on the stocks you should run your ruler over in today’s Closing Bell.

We also check out a bunch of stocks suggested by viewers since it is the first Friday of the month.

There are a few Canadian commodity stories covering copper and gold, as well as a medtech company.

But I reckon the most interesting development is the potential for gold to bounce after an eight-month correction.

Even if gold ultimately heads lower over the next year or so, I think there is a tradeable bounce that could give you a chance to derisk.

I like it when a whole bunch of stocks in a sector are all flashing buy signals at once. It increases my confidence that I’m onto something.

To show you what I mean, I give you a nice, long list of gold stocks that are all showing signs of bottoming out.

So if you have been waiting for the chance to jump on the gold bull market, grab your pen and paper and get ready to take some notes during today’s gold and copper focused Closing Bell.
